Calling all Waldorf Alumni, Waldorf Parents and Waldorf Teachers!

Do you love to make art? What’s your preferred medium? Clay, water-color, wood, fibre, chalk? However you like to express yourself, you are invited to participate in a Philadelphia-based art event that will showcase the work of Waldorf artists across the country.

Art will be selected by a prestigious panel that includes – Nicole Nicola, WSP Teacher of Handwork, Drawing and Sculpture; Daniel Dalseth, Artist and Owner of Pagent:Soloveev; David Guinn, Artist with Philadelphia Mural Arts Program; and Robert Ogden, founder and creative director of Lostine, a Philadelphia-based home furnishings design company. The event will be hosted by Pagent:Soloveev at 6^th & Bainbridge, Philadelphia on November 7th, 8^th, 9^th & 10^th 2013.

We hope for entries that will reflect the variety of mediums that is the richness of Waldorf Education, including but not limited to fiber-arts, sculpture, fine-arts and wood. Click here for more information and submission details -

Open call for entries to Waldorf alumni artists, teachers or parents working in any and all media to be selected to participate in a group exhibition of up to sixteen artists.

Submit up to five images attached to the email entry sized at 5×7″ with a 72 dpi resolution, with accompanying description that includes slide list with title, size, medium and date of completion.

Please indicate if the slides or photos are the actual work proposed for this show or are representative of the artist’s body of work. In 100 words or less please respond to the question “What is Waldorf?”

Be sure to include: resume with education, associated Waldorf school and gallery affiliations and exhibition history if applicable.

Also include your current contact information and a website link if available, proposed use of space, concept or theme, title (if available), number of artists, media, installation requirements and any other information specific to your submission.

The Whispering Wood Popup Store is more than a place to buy gifts. It is a multi-sensory conceptual shopping environment that melds core aspects of Waldorf Education with the selection of beautiful hand-made toys and gifts for family and loved ones. Visitors will be transported out of the ordinary with unique sound and music, the scent of essential oils, together with the sight and touch of natural elements and materials that have been transformed into children’s playthings and fine crafts. This year there are eleven vendors participating in our venture. Come visit and explore our collection of  jewelry, hand-knits, quilted and wood-worked items, hand-made books and photography. All proceeds benefit the WSP tuition assistance program.

PS – Don’t miss these events this weekend!!! The WSP holiday chorus on Friday @ 6.30, and the Sustainable Fundraising talk @ 4.00 and exclusive Alumni After Hours @ 5.00, both on Saturday.

At last the moment is here! The Whispering Wood opens tomorrow, Friday 9th December at 11.00 a.m. Here is a preview of what’s in store.

The Whispering Wood is located at Greene & Carpenter, at the Weavers Way Co-op intersection in Mt Airy. Opening hours are Friday 11-8, Saturday and Sunday 9-5.  The store will re-open at its permanent location on Tuesday, 13th December at The Waldorf School of Philadelphia.

Tomorrow evening at 7.00 p.m. visitors will be treated to a performance by The Waldorf School of Philadelphia Choir. We hope to see as many of our friends as possible, if not on Friday evening then sometime across the weekend.
